GuoGu taught Case #6 as a Koan on “Buddha Holds Up a Flower” to his students at Florida State University.

Guo Gu is the founder and teacher at the Tallahassee Chan Center, and a full-time Professor at Florida State University.  In April, he took his FSU “Chan/Zen Buddhism” class to the Chan Center for a live meditation session. Teaching multiple courses in the Religion Department, he seamlessly integrates academic rigor with practical spirituality.

After leaving his monastic life in 2000, Guo Gu completed a Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies from Princeton University. His dual roles as a founder and educator enable him to blend theoretical knowledge with experiential learning, continuing the legacy of his teacher, Master Sheng Yen.
